Money
- Currency: Mauritian rupee (MUR, Rs).
- Cards in hotels, malls and supermarkets; cash for markets, buses, taxis and street food.
- ATMs in towns and shopping centres. Tipping is welcome, not compulsory.
Plugs and power
- 230 V. Sockets: type C (European two-pin) and type G (British three-pin).
- Bring a universal adapter.

Driving
- Drive on the LEFT. Roundabouts go clockwise.
- Narrow roads, buses and people on the roadside: drive slowly, avoid night driving outside towns.
- Agree taxi prices before you get in.
